Record economic growth

On Friday 22 July, our Labour Government chalked up another landmark - 60 consecutive quarters of economic growth. The previous record run was 19  quarters, from 1985 to 1990.  Before that, a long run of good growth was 6 or 7 quarters!  In fact, there are 12 million children alive in Britain today who have never experienced anything other than a rising economy.

The UK economy grew under Labour even when our major competitors went into reverse in 1998 and then during the Asian and Russian hedge fund crisis.

Now we need to focus on eliminating poverty.
