Nagasaki survivors honour our MP | |
Masahiko and Mitsugi Moriguchi were 9 and 7 when the A-bomb exploded, killing 73,884 in their city and injuring 74,909, with 120,820 suffering long term radiation sicknesses. They spoke of the horror of nuclear warfare. Mitsugi runs the Nagasaki Testimonial Society of Atomic Bombing. The Society invited Nigel to plant a tree with A-Bomb survivors at Gillis College in the Grange. The Society is a leading promoter of peace between nations. Water from the Nagasaki Peace Park fountain was poured on the tree. The Peace Park marks ‘ground zero’ - the exact point above which the bomb exploded. You can view the award presented to Nigel in his office at 31 Minto Street.
