Fighting to ensure that our schools have proper funding is one of Nigel's key priorities.  He remembers when pupils at Gillespie's primary were taught in Nissan huts and had outside toilets - when the Council was controlled by the Liberal Democrats who refused to to spend any money replacing them. He campaigned to elect a Labour council whose priority was to build a brand new new school.  Now he is supporting the school's major programme of repairs.
