Nigel welcomes landmine campaigner and Nobel Laureate Jody Williams to the House of Commons.

Jody succeeded in having landmines banned at the historic Ottawa conference of 1997 and she is now working with Nigel and other Parliamentarians to outlaw cluster bombs which are killing children in developing countries which were recently war zones.

Backing local train improvements

In March, hopes of reopening the South surburban railway line were dashed by the local LibDem/SNP council. Nigel met the Head Teacher of Boroughmuir Jack Hamilton to praise the work of the Bruntsfield school. They discussed possible sites for a new school, including a move to the Scottish Water site at Buckstone, but there are no proposals in writing. Royal Infirmary public hearing

Nigel Griffiths holds inquiries into matters of concern to local people, and he investigates issues which affect our lives in South Edinburgh.
